On our last evening in the Dolomites we sat on the balcony of our holiday flat, watching a violent thunderstorm ravage the mountains to the south of the village. Every couple of seconds flickering lights illuminated the peaks, and once in a while the actual lightning strikes were visible in the sky. Naturally I grabbed my tripod and camera to try to capture the scene, and while most pictures lacked the actual lightning, a couple of times I got lucky.
