I recently spent a weekend in Glen Affric, arguably Scotland’s most beautiful valley, with my university outdoor club. After two days of walking and rambling, of no mains electricity and carrying water up from the river for boiling and washing, we got back on the bus for our way home to Dundee. Around Aviemore the sun started to set, and as everyone was sitting in silence, listening to the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix audiobook read by Stephen Fry that our driver had put on, I took this picture. For me it captures the classic ‘road trip’ essence, and if I didn’t know it was the sunset we were driving into, it might as well be a sunrise and the promise of a new day full of possible adventures and discoveries.
